Winamp Locker Service Closing
You may remember that the Winamp locker service was provided by MyPlay. Winamp reported on their homepage, 'We at Nullsoft have some very bad news for you. So sad, in fact, that we feel the need to start a new paragraph just to tell you about it.' It's good to see a company with a sense of humor about such things. However, I can't help but wonder if MyPlay's recent acquisition by Bertelsmann had anything to do with the end of this service. After all AOL Time Warner is the parent company of Nullsoft makers of Winamp. I can't fathom that AOL would want to pay their chief competitor in the entertainment world any amount of money for this service. If you have the inside scoop on this one, let me know.
