Egreetings reserve popular cards to paid members: "The bill collectors finally caught up with us. What can we say? After years of offering you the coolest free cards on the web, we actually need to start making some money. (geez, and we always thought bankers had a better sense of humor...)" says a pop-up you get from their home page.
Unlimited access comes for $11.95 a year. This less than two weeks after American Greetings made a similar move, while Blue Mountain Unlimited charges, guess how much, yes... $11.95 a year!
It's interesting to notice that Yahoo Greetings are still free. With all their talk about fee services, and several big competitors asking for money, expect that not to last (and bet for a $11.95 yearly price).
Update: I should mention BlueMountain now belongs to AmericanGreetings, which probably partly explains Free E-Greetings Going Away.
12/20/01 update: E-card fees drive traffic to free card sites.
