Ireland.com to start charging for premium content from the summer: "Pricing details will be announced in the next couple of weeks. The newspaper said the introduction of fees was a growing trend among content providers."
They currently run a survey about the forthcoming premium service: "However, it is becoming increasingly self-evident that a business model dependent solely upon advertising revenue is not sustainable in today's difficult marketplace. In order to continue to provide unrivalled content and services, we have to begin charging users for access to the premium content areas of our site."
Ireland.com also offers fee-based e-mail they switched to at the beginning of 2002, for €30 a year.
