Six months ago, Delphi Forums launched a paid membership program, 'DelphiPlus', while maintaining the free service. Now it's time to say goodbye to the free service. The e-mail sent to its users reads:
"We can no longer continue to rely on advertising. Our community does not click on the banner ads that we attract (not that we blame you). Our community does not open or respond to email marketing. Advertising on the Internet has evolved into a bad idea. [...] For better or for worse, our decision is clear. We need your subscription to DelphiPlus and we are asking for it".

It seems that the number of people who had switched to 'DelphiPlus' wasn't that big so as to balance the loss of advertising revenues, so they're leaving the 'free ASP' model for good.

09/10/02 update (by Olivier): someone from Delphi finds Konstantinos' comment misleading, pointing out that they "switched to a three-tier system" so they still have some level of free membership, so here's for correction (belatedly, I was first told so one month ago but failed to update this post.)
